FOOD ASSIST
FoodAssist has been providing food relief to people in need within the South East Queensland regional community since 1996. FoodAssist operates with a team of dedicated volunteers who give their time to support people within the local community.
4 million Australians, or 18% of the population, experience food insecurity at some point. Only half of these people ever seek food relief and only a third of the charities are currently meeting the needs of the people they support. Most charities are forced to turn people away empty handed due to lack of food and resources. Support us today to help people in your local community by providing food relief.
Who we are.
FoodAssist is a charitable, self-funded, public benevolent organisation without direct government financial assistance. Operating under the ActsCare Group, we operate through the support of volunteers, a work experience program for people with disabilities, WEX workers, community service and correctional service workers.
FoodAssist offers food hampers at below cost prices to families, individuals or groups in need in our local community. The hampers are packed and sold by a team of volunteers that are passionate about giving back to the community and helping people doing it tough.
FoodAssist pack and sell hampers at a cost of $30.00. Each hamper covers a wide variety of kitchen needs from bread, cereal, fresh fruit and vegetables, pasta, milk and more.
We have various outreach locations around the Darling Downs including Pittsworth, Clifton and Oakey
(these are currently on hold).
